Every year, ECU invites nominations to recognize innovation, passion and excellence in teaching.


The Chick Rice Award for Teaching Excellence

Emily Carr is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2024 Chick Rice Award for Teaching Excellence.

The award will provide a $1000 prize to an Emily Carr University Non-Regular Faculty who demonstrates passionate and innovative teaching practices.

Non-Regular Faculty who meet the following criteria are invited to apply:

  • are teaching in the current academic year;
  • have taught a minimum of eighteen credits; and
  • are a previous recipient of the Ian Wallace Award for Teaching Excellence

Please submit a completed Application Form and a Letter of Application to Human Resources by 4pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.


The Ian Wallace Award for Teaching Excellence

Emily Carr is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2024 Ian Wallace Award for Teaching Excellence.

The purpose of the award is to recognize and honour sustained teaching innovation and excellence at Emily Carr University and, in so doing, inspire and encourage others to make significant contributions through their teaching at Emily Carr.

The Award will consist of a cash prize of $500 for the Regular Faculty Teaching Award and $500 for the Non-Regular Faculty Teaching Award. Faculty can be nominated by Faculty, Students, Deans, Curriculum Support Staff and Alumni.

To nominate a Faculty member, please submit a completed nomination form, including two additional signatures of support (seconders) to Human Resources by 4pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

The nominees will be notified and will be required to submit their teaching dossier and CV to Human Resources.
